Fire Safety Talks Save Young Lives

On November 28th, 2015 a fatal fire in western Flagler County almost took the lives of two Flagler County children. Miller (7) and Luke (4) Clayton were home when the fire began. Miller utilized what he learned from Palm Coast Professional Firefighters during a fire safety talk at the Imagine School, to crawl low under the smoke and to get outside with his brother - saving the lives of both young men. Flagler County Fire Rescue and the Palm Coast Fire Department responded to the scene to find the home fully engulfed. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control but not before the blaze claimed the life of Kevin Clayton (41). Professional Firefighters from Palm Coast and Flagler County presented Miller with a life-saving award at a county commision meeting on December 22nd.
